Administrator
As the facility Administrator, Brent Moss oversees compliance with CMS and Marquis policies and procedures at Montgomery. With a background as a nurse, Brent has a passion for managing and finding solutions related to patient care. Ensuring the well-being of residents and supervising the nursing home staff are integral to Brent’s daily responsibilities. Brent Moss takes pride in witnessing the successful decannulation of patients who can return to their normal lives and delights in seeing residents engage in activities for an enhanced quality of life. Brent’s primary goal is to establish Montgomery as the preferred facility in the Mid-Atlantic region for individuals on ventilators working towards ventilator weaning.
Director of Nursing
As the Director of Nursing at Montgomery Subacute and Respiratory Center, Kristine Morano leads a dynamic interdisciplinary team in crafting individualized care plans for residents. Collaborating closely with nurses, CNAs, and RTs, Kristine ensures residents receive optimal care and remains actively engaged throughout the day to offer support. Despite an initial aversion to the medical field, Kristine Morano found a calling in nursing after providing compassionate care to a sick colleague. Over the past 14 years at Montgomery, Kristine has become deeply connected to the residents, witnessing their admissions, struggles, and successes. Serving as an advocate, Kristine works tirelessly to ensure the best care for each resident, contributing to numerous success stories such as decannulations and residents returning home. Kristine Morano cherishes the heartwarming memories created with residents, facilitated by the dedicated recreational department, which strives to enhance their lives through meaningful activities.
Director of Respiratory
Dr. Richi Oommen, the Director of Respiratory at Montgomery Subacute and Respiratory Center, oversees the respiratory needs of residents, collaborating with the Pulmonary team, Dr. Meis, and Kevin to monitor and facilitate weaning parameters and develop care plans. Formerly a dentist in India, Richi Oommen transitioned to respiratory therapy in the United States, inspired by personal experiences with his mother’s lung cancer. Known for his hands-on approach, he works on the floor with the respiratory therapy team, ensuring a smooth day for everyone. Driven by a genuine connection with residents, Richi, a lighthearted jokester, fosters trust and openness, explaining care plans with compassion. He accompanies residents on outings to emphasize their ability to engage in regular activities. Witnessing residents go home, whether with a trach or after decannulation, brings immense joy, motivating Dr. Oommen to make a positive impact in their everyday lives. With a goal to facilitate at least 5 more residents’ return home this year, he remains dedicated to making a difference for residents and their families at Montgomery.
Life Enrichment Director
As the Life Enrichment Director at Montgomery Subacute and Respiratory Center, Patrice Davis, CTRS, is a dedicated Recreation Therapist (CTRS) committed to enhancing the lives of residents facing challenging circumstances in a facility setting. Leading the Culture Committee, Patrice boosts staff morale by organizing special events to express appreciation. With a focus on mental health, Patrice plans and implements daily group activities to foster social interaction and purpose in residents’ lives. Recognizing the importance of emotional well-being, Patrice initiated the support group “Together We Can” during the COVID pandemic. She also conducts “Fresh Air Fitness” outdoor exercise sessions and organizes community outings to places like shopping centers, restaurants, and cultural events. Prioritizing spiritual well-being, Patrice facilitates 1:1 bible studies and coordinates volunteer visits from various church denominations. She and her staff provide bedside visits for residents with minimal responsiveness, seeking to elicit meaningful responses and companionship. Patrice’s compassionate approach is exemplified by the heartwarming story of a resident who rediscovered joy by dressing up as Santa Claus for a Christmas party, showcasing the transformative power of purposeful engagement.
